Walter Mitchell Jr., 79 of Highpoint, NC, formerly of Rosspoint, KY passed away on Saturday February 27, 2021. He was born on February 03, 1942 in Steiman, VA. He was retired from General Motors after 30 years of service, a member of the UAW, and a member of the Teetersville Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Mitchell Sr., and Cassie Turner Mitchell. His wife, Rose Nell Mitchell, and one sister, Georgia Nolan.
Survivors include his loving children, Terry and wife Bonnie Mitchell of Highpoint, NC and Catherine Compton of Orlando, FL; and one brother, Sonny Mitchell of Harlan, KY. Four grandchildren, Amie Newton, T. J. Mitchell, Nicole Thompson, and Cassie Roach. Six great grandchildren, Laythin Newton, Landin Newton, Layla Newton, Jagger Roach, Ryder Roach, and Eli Thompson. A special niece, Gracie and husband, Bill Blevins. A host of other nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be Wednesday March 03, 2021 at 1PM in the Chapel of the Henson and Rich Funeral Home with Dr. Roy Lucas officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as Pallbearers. Visitation will also be Wednesday from 12PM until the funeral hour.
EFFECTIVE December 14, 2020 by the Governor’s mandate, visitation and funerals are limited to 50% of our facility occupancy compacity. Face coverings are required. Please use social distancing guidelines.
