Thomas (Tommy) M. Mitchell III, 58, of Wallins, KY went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 8th, 2026. He was born in Harlan, KY to Thomas M. Mitchell Jr. and Cleda Sellers-Boggs. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Thomas M. Mitchell Sr., Alma Mitchell, and Thelma Sellers; and his brother-in-law, Ronnie Fee.
Survived by his loving spouse of 32 years, Stephanie Mitchell of Wallins; his sister who he loved dearly, Abby Fee of Wallins; his special niece Tasha Howard whom he loved like his own & her husband Kyle Howard of Coldiron; also along with a host of in-laws, & other nieces and nephews; mother-in-law Brenda Miracle of Smith; sister-in-law Amanda Hubbard & husband Jesse of Loyall; sister-in-law Renee Tomlin & husband Chris of Harlan, nephews Brad Tomlin & Malachi Hubbard, nieces Jocelyn Miracle, Nevaeh Miracle; granddaughter Makenna Cole; and his animals that he loved so dearly.
Tommy loved his family and animals deeply. If he saw any animal in need, he always did his part to help care for it. He enjoyed Big Foot Research, the outdoors, ghost hunting shows, and watching WWE wrestling. If wrestling was on, you bet he was watching it! He had a deep love for American History and enjoyed sharing things about it with others. He could tell you the date, location, and significance of any major historical event. He also collected historical items at home and he loved them dearly; but some of his favorite things were his collection of swords and guns. He loved cars and talking about them with his niece Tasha. He loved his bronco (Old Moe) and especially his red camaro that was a present from his dad when he was young. He loved talking on the phone with his family and friends. He talked to his sister Abby at least 3 times a day along with his wife Stephanie who travels a lot for work. He always took care of his wife Stephanie and did anything he could to help make her life easier. She was truly the love of his life. He loved walking his dogs and caring for them daily. He had a caring heart and always took care of those he loved and loved them deeply.
He graduated from James A. Cawood High School, and he also earned his bachelor’s Degree in History & Political Science from Union College.
Thomas worked at Wal-Mart for 30 years. He truly enjoyed his time there, along with the many lifelong friendships and work family he made throughout the years.
