Rick McWhirter

Rick McWhirter, age 47 of Belleville, MI passed away Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023, surrounded by family. He was born on February 5th, 1975 to Nowanna (Clem) McWhirter and Richard Garland McWhirter, Sr. He is survived by his wife Jodi McWhirter, three children: Kaitlynn, Ricky, and Jacob McWhirter; his parents Nowanna (Clem) McWhirter, Rick McWhirter Sr., his brothers Steve Carpenter and Kris McWhirter, his mother-in-law Debbie, and his sister and brother-in-laws, as well as his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and father-in-law. 

Rick was a man who exuded kindness and strength to all who knew him. He graduated from Belleville High School in 1994. Throughout his life he worked as a rescue diver, fire-fighter, EMT, and other healthcare positions. He was a man who would give you the shirt off his back and the last dollar in his pocket, oh and of course an orphan raccoon or six a home. He enjoyed cruising the lakes of Michigan, fishing, and exploring their underwater depths while scuba diving. He was a jack of all trades with a heart of gold and will be missed by all who loved him. 

The visitation for Rick will be held Sunday, January 8th, 2023, from 1pm until 8pm. The funeral will be held on Monday, January 9th, 2023, at David C. Brown Funeral Home, 460 E. Huron River Drive, Belleville, MI with Pastor Joe Kennedy officiating at 11am.  His burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Belleville, MI following the service.
