Martha Ann (Poteet) Smith

Martha Smith, 86, of Rosspoint, KY passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at her residence surrounded by family. She was born March 30, 1936, to the late Jim Poteet and Sarah Janie Jones Poteet. Martha handled office maintenance at the KY Harlan Coal Company during her earlier years. She was special to everyone who knew and met her, and she will be deeply missed. Martha believed in the Baptist Faith.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David Smith; a beloved grandson, Benji Caldwell, and three brothers, Jimmy, Bill, and Austin Poteet.

Those left to cherish her memories are her two children, Gary Colegrove & wife Ida of Rosspoint, KY, and Larry Colegrove & wife Shirley Jean of Forester’s Creek, KY. Four grandchildren, Susan Marie Kruse, Billy Joe Colegrove, Gary Ray Colegrove, and Christina Hope Colegrove; 14 great grandchildren, and her two sisters, Nora Smith of Florida, and Faye King of Harlan, KY. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends also survive.

Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Cemetery at a later date.
