Lonnie Ted “Poppy” Saylor, 72, of Molus, KY passed away Monday, April 28, 2025, following a short illness. He was born April 13, 1953, in Pineville, KY. Ted was a surface and underground coal miner, co-owner and operator of G & T Coal Company and their logging business for many years. But Ted was a cattleman and raised cattle which was something he truly loved doing. He was a family man and always made sure family came first. Ted was a beloved husband, father and “Poppy” and believed in the Pentecostal Faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Helen Ward Saylor, his brothers, George, Carl, Jack, Morris and Clark Saylor and his sisters, Ada Lou Saylor, Minnie Saylor and Gladys Hatfield.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Saylor; his beloved children, Lonnie Ted Saylor Jr, David DeWayne Saylor and Melissa LeAnn Henson and husband Robby; he also adored his 11 grandchildren who survive and referred to him as “Poppy”. In addition, he also has several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 1PM at Molus Pentecostal Church with the Rev Ray Stepp and the Rev Carl Eldridge officiating. Burial will follow in the Saylor Cemetery of Molus, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 2, 2025, after 5-PM at the Molus Pentecostal Church.
