Lavon (Henry) Steele

Lavon Steele, 62, of Kenvir, KY went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY with her family by her side. She was born June 29, 1962, in Harlan. Lavon was a loving wife, mother, sister and nannie. She was also a dear friend to all who knew her. Lavon was a true example of a virtuous woman and servant to the Lord by her loving spirit that she showed to all the children in the neighborhood and helping anyone in need. She was always there for us all.

Lavon is preceded in death by her parents, Tollie and Mable Henry; her brothers, Tim Henry and Otis “Root” Henry; her sister, Cynt Cundiff; her son-in-law, Shane Howard; her brother-in-law, Ray Steele; her nephews, Ronnie Wynn, Cody Henry and Tommy Lunsford.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Perry Steele of Kenvir, KY; her children, Terry Hale and wife Kelly of Cincinnati, OH, Astria Howard of Baxter, KY, Chrissy Steele of Kenvir, KY and Jordan Steele of Kenvir, KY. Her grandchildren, Elijah Steele, Carter Howard, Aliyah Burkhart, Lilly Burhart and Jadden Major; her great-grandchild whom she loved more than anything, Everly Steele and her mother Emily Long. Also her special grandchildren, Skylar Howard, Jocie Wynn and Jase Wynn. Her sisters, Patricia Peterson of Williamsburg, KY, Jean Henry of Kenvir, KY Carol Mills, whom she loved as her sister; and her cousin who was more like a brother, Tom Lunsford and wife Drue and their family. Her in-laws, Bud and Jan Steele, Luada and Royce Wynn, Butch and Darlene Steele all of Kenvir, KY. Also, her Church family of Kildav Community Church, where she was a faithful member and loved everyone who attended and her dialysis family where she loved the staff and patients along and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 2-PM at the Brittains Creek Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev, Jason Brice Mills and Rev. Bill Moore officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 5-9PM at the Brittains Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
