Johnny Lee Pace, 71, of Dizney, Ky passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the UK Medical Center due to injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born October 17, 1948 in Harlan, KY. Johnny was a graduate of Evarts High School, Eastern Kentucky University and Lincoln Memorial University where he received his Rank 1 in Education. He was a retired schoolteacher, vice principal and principal at Evarts Jr and Sr High School. Johnny was also a coal miner having last been employed by Eastover Mining Company. He was also a member of the Yocum Creek Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny A. Pace and Thelma Lee Pace, and his sister Jean Renee Pace Lilly.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lynn Pace; his two children, Dr. Jesse Pace DO and wife DR. Candice Adkins Pace DVM and Dr. Sara Kovacic DO and husband Brian. His grandchildren, Jasper Pace, Lillian Kovacic and Isaac Kovacic; his sister, Jane Christian and husband John; his niece and nephews, Jana Trotter, Joshua Lilly, Keith Christian and Jason Christian; and a host of relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 1-PM in the chapel of the Henson & Rich Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will also receive friends on Monday from 11-AM until the funeral hour.
In accordance with phase 2 of the COVIS-19 event dated JUNE 20, 2020 by the Kentucky Governor, capacity restrictions and social distancing guidelines will be followed during all services including the wearing of face coverings for the safety of our families and guests.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to Yocum Creek Baptist Church 113 Middleton Ave. Evarts, Ky 40828, or a church of your choice in memory of Johnny Lee Pace.
