John S. Brock, 83, of Coldiron, KY went home to be with the Lord on Monday June 14, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 28, 1937, in Forrester’s Creek, KY to the late Zackie and Edna Brock. John was a retired employee of Mack’s Family Center with 35 years of service, and a Veteran of the US Army. He believed in the Pentecostal Faith and attended the Laymon Pentecostal Church and the Coldiron Church of God Mountain Assembly. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and wonderful friend to all who knew him.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wives, Wanda Mills Brock, and Reba Irene Brock. Also, twelve siblings preceded in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his four loving daughters, Bridget Carol Brock of Coldiron, Darlene Freeman of Coldiron, Melissa Ann Shoemaker of Bluff City, TN and Charlotte Michelle South of Kingsport, TN; two brothers, Glenn Brock and wife Carol, and Wayne Brock all of Coldiron; six grandchildren, Heather Freeman, John Michael Freeman, Katie Lee Hensley and husband Michael, Brittany Shoemaker, Briana South, and Joshua South and wife Adrianne. Also, five great grandchildren, Rylee MaKenna, Waylon Blake, Davian, Kensi, and Delaney. Several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friend also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday June 18, 2021, at 1PM at the Coldiron Church of God Mountain Assembly with the Rev. Jack Carmical and Rev. Dustin Simpson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Brock Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Harlan County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday and Thursday after 5PM at the church.
