Joey Lee “Gnat Smoke” Adkins, 49 of Wallins, KY gained his Angel wings on March 26, 2021. He was born to the late Rev. Earl and Kathleen Milwee Adkins and he believed in the Holiness Faith. Joey was a Coal Truck Driver for many years in Harlan County and he also ran a loader.
Other than his parents, Joey is preceded in death by his brothers, Troy Adkins, Frank Adkins, Lonnie Adkins, and Jim Adkins. Three sisters, Pat Tipper, Earlene Hammons, and Glenda Adkins.
Survivors include his wife, Ashley Adkins of Wallins; his loving son, Tyler (Halee) Adkins with his first grandchild on the way, precious baby boy Brantlee, of Wallins. His stepchildren, Riley Collett and Devin Collett. His sisters, Debbie Collett, Cathy Adkins (both of Harlan), Angela (Al) Warren, Wanda Marsh, and Shirley Norton all of Michigan. One special niece, Kayla Collett and two special cousins, Mariea (Lonnie) Collins, and Lisa (Jim) Arvin. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives, and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 1PM at the Wallins Holiness Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Cody Collett and Rev. Terry Baker officiating. Burial will follow at the Tackett Hill Cemetery at Pathfork with nephews serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be on Tuesday March 30, 2021 starting after 3PM until the funeral hour on Wednesday.
