James Johnson, 74, of Appalachia, VA formerly of Baxter, KY, passed away on Saturday June 19, 2021. He was born August 11, 1946, at Three Point, KY. Mr. Johnson was retired from General Motors, a member of the UAW, and believed in the Pentecostal Faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John, and Mary Johnson, his loving wife, Constance Johnson, and a great grandchild, Marley Chippewa. Also, several siblings precede him in death.
Survivors include his three children, James Ronald Johnson of Appalachia, VA, Sandra Marie Ortiz and husband James of Wyandotte, MI, and Peggy Sue Scott and husband Doug of Weber City, VA. Six grandchildren, Christina Henderson, James Robert Johnson, Paula Clark, Brittany Poloskey, Hayley Ortiz, and Isaac Scott. Seven great-grandchildren, James Riley Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Leah Johnson, Elijah Chippewa, Jayla Clark, and Josiah Clark, and one sister, Joyce Ann Howard of Monroe, MI. Also, a host of relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 24, 2021, at 7PM in the Chapel of the Henson and Rich Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Scott officiating. Visitation will also be Thursday starting at 5PM until the funeral hour.
Graveside services will be held on Friday June 25, 2021, at 11AM at the Park-Howard Cemetery in Wallins, KY. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
