George Earl Hensley, 82 of Browning Acres, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 10, 2020. George was a devoted Dad, grandfather, brother, son and friend. He was a devoted church member and soldier for Jesus. He enjoyed sponsoring benefit signings at churches around the county. He was a volunteer at the nursing home where he played Santa for the residents every year. He loved people and enjoyed being around them. He will be greatly missed! His memories will live on in our hearts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Melvie Hall Hensley; his wife, Minerva Hensley; his son, Raymond Hensley; his brothers, Don Hensley and David Hensley.
He is survived by his children, Phyllis and husband, Gary Rhymer, Harvey Hensley and Kim and husband, Bryan Howard. His grandchildren, Derek Middleton, Shannon Elliot, Heather Geiger, James Kelly Hensley, Taylor Hensley, Joseph Hensley, Bryan Howard, Brayden Howard. and Brianna Howard. Seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. His brothers, Calvin and wife, Jean Hensley, Billy and wife, Ursula Hensley; his sisters, Helen Halcomb, Wanda and husband, Wayne Ramsey and Carol Jones along with a host of nieces, nephew’s family and friends.
Funeral services will be 6 PM on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Harvest Worship Center in Harlan with Rev. Roland “Bo” Lee and Rev. Doug Daniel officiating. Burial will follow on Monday at 12PM at Surgener – Hensley Cemetery at Cawood.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 – 6 PM at the Church.
