Garry L. Henson Sr., 75 of Harlan, Kentucky, entered his Heavenly Home on May 9th, 2021.
Brenda Henson, his wife of 55 years, was by his side, along with his children and grandchildren at his home in Catrons Valley when he passed. Garry was born to the late John and Fannie Henson on November 18th, 1945, at Ages, Kentucky.
A lifetime resident of Harlan, Kentucky, Garry served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam and taught school for a short time, but his true joy was his 48-year career as a floral designer after opening Henson Florist in 1973. Being a family business, he was loved by his family, friends, and customers daily, as he spent a substantial part of his life in the florist.
Garry was preceded in death by his sister Helen Boggs and brother Kenneth Allen. In addition to his wife, Brenda Henson, he is survived by his brother John Henson Jr., son Garry Henson II, wife Donnece Henson, and daughter Belinda Cassim, husband Brian Cassim. Garry was also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Emily, Lydia Belle, and Will Cassim, and Garry III, Samuel, and Hannah Jo Henson.
A church service will take place at Ages Pentecostal Church at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12th, per Garry’s request. Also, a visitation for Garry will take place at Henson & Rich Funeral Home from 5PM to 8PM on Thursday, May 13th with funeral services will following at 8 o’clock with Rev. Gary Grubbs officiating.
Graveside services will take place at 1PM on Friday, May 14th, at the Resthaven Cemetery Chapel with Military Burial Honors by the Harlan County Honor Guard.
