Emilie V. Johnson, 78 of Harlan, entered her Heavenly Home on April 28, 2019, after a short illness. Cleo Johnson, her beloved husband of 53 years, was close by her side along with her niece and two nephews. Emilie was born to the late Angelo and Mildred Visconti on December 30, 1940, at Liggett, Kentucky. She was a member of the Grays Knob Bible Church where she served as pianist for several years.
A lifetime resident of Harlan, Kentucky, Emilie worked as a beautician for many years. Upon her retirement, she began another career working for her sister and brother-in-law at Henson Florist. Being a family business, she was loved by her family as they daily worked side by side. Many customers just came in to visit with her at the florist because of her welcoming smile and her helpful nature.
In addition to her husband of 53 years, Cleo Johnson, she is survived by her sister Brenda Henson and husband Garry, three nephews, Jerry D. Johnson, Garry Henson Jr. and Billy Johnson, four nieces, Belinda Cassim, Priscilla Stines, Leslie Ella Clark and Loretta Shumate. Emilie was also survived by her beloved self-adopted grandchildren, Emily, Lydia, and Will Cassim, and Garry III, Samuel, and Hannah Jo Henson.
Visitation for Emilie V. Johnson will take place at the Grays Knob Bible Church on Tuesday, April 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m with Rev Larry Johnson officiating. Graveside services will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the Resthaven Cemetery Chapel with nephews serving as pallbearers.
Arrangements under the direction of Henson and Rich Funeral Home.
