Elsie Vanover, 93, of Baxter went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 31, 2020 at the Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 23, 1927 in Harlan. Elsie was a homemaker, a Kentucky Wildcat fan and believed in the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Green and Stella Sergent Middleton; her husband, Tom Vanover; her sons, David and Tommy Vanover; her son-in-law, Bill Lewis; her sister, Flossie Clem; her brothers, Jack, Marvin, Otis, Willis, Foyal, Marcus and Glen Middleton.
She is survived by her children, Connie Lewis of Putney, Shirley Asher of London, Dana Vanover of Baxter, Johnny “Buck” Vanover of Baxter, Dennis “Cotton” Vanover and wife, Pam of Baxter, Lisa Smith and husband, Dennis of Baxter and Dee Dee Harrison and husband, Terry of Baxter. Also, her 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephew, relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 7PM in the chapel of the Henson & Rich Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Ellis officiating. The family will also receive friends on Wednesday after 5PM until the funeral hour.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 11AM at the Middleton Cemetery at Baxter with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to help cover funeral expenses.
