Duane Sergent

Duane Sergent, 81 of Baxter, went home to be with the Lord on Monday January 10, 2022, at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was born on April 5, 1940, in Rosspoint, Ky to the late Major and Flossie Sergent. Duane worked for over 33 years as a Machinist for Black Diamond Electric, loved staying home where he enjoyed himself the most, and believed in the Baptist Faith. Duane was a family man, a loving husband, and even better daddy and papaw, and will surely be missed by all who knew him.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving daughter, Misty Sergent and his four siblings, Rodney, Rayburn, Lenny, Mickey, and Magelene Sergent.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Hazel McVey Sergent; three precious children, Sherry Stewart (Kenneth) of Rosspoint, Ky, Duane Sergent Jr. (Becky) of Rogersville, TN, and Miranda Beaman (Allen) of Rosspoint, Ky; six grandchildren; one brother, Ricky Sergent of Rosspoint, and three sisters, Otella Trosper (Jimmy), Latonia Sergent both of Rosspoint, and Linda Whitehead (Bunk) of Putney, Ky. Several other very loved nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022, at 7PM in the Chapel of the Henson and Rich Funeral Home with Tracy Turner officiating. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 1PM in the Howard Cemetery at Rosspoint, Ky with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will also be on Friday starting at 5PM until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
