Mr. Douglas “Doug” Cox, Sr. age 74 of Douglasville, Ga. the New Georgia Community of Paulding County, passed away on Monday December 30, 2019 in Villa Rica, Ga.
Mr. Cox was born on April 15, 1945 in Coxton, Ky. to the late Mrs. Thelma L Wilburn Mullins and late Mr. Fred Mullins. Mr. Cox was married to Mrs. Zana Monhollen Cox for 56 years. He retired after 36 years as a elevator mechanic. He enjoyed being outdoors and was a member of the St. Andrews Golf Club. He coached baseball in South Cobb for eleven years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Mr. Cox will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Cox is survive by his wife; Mrs. Zana Cox, daughter; Mrs. Suzette Wilson (Ronald), son; Mr. Douglas Cox, Jr. (Beth), grandchildren; Richie Dunagan (Alicia), Kristin Cox, great grandchild; Raylon Dunagan, brother in law; Mr. Charles Monhollen (Brenda), brother in law; Mr. Jack Monhollen (Dale), sister in law; Mrs. Judy Cox; special friends, Mr. & Mrs. Randy (Peggy) Griffith. Many nieces, nephews and other family also survive.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father and mother in law; Rev. & Mrs. Charlie (Ruby) Monhollen, siblings; Thelma Lou Budzeika, Jerry Cox, Sr., Janice Radabaugh, Drew Cox and Joan Thomas; brother and sister in laws; Merline Jackson, Margerette Monhollen and Judy Monhollen. Special pet Fletch Cox.
Funeral services Thursday January 2, 2020 at 2PM at the Chapel of the Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Peaceful Meadows Memorial Park Cemetery in Dallas, Ga.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Thursday January 2, 2020 from 11AM – 2PM.
