Don Halcomb

Don Halcomb, 76 of Harlan, was born on May 4, 1943 in Louisville, KY and entered Heaven on October 2, 2019 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He retired from Delta Airlines as a mechanic and served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He most recently received a Quilt of Valor for his military service.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Gothel and Lovella Halcomb; his brother, Wayne Halcomb; his aunts, Maggie Bailey, Sally Jones, Judy Halcomb, Geraldine Halcomb and Maude Hurst.  Also, his uncles, Tyree Davidson, Kelly Holcomb, Jay Holcomb and Lee Jones.

Don is survived by his wife, Helen Hensley Halcomb; his children, Donna Monroe and husband Charles Court of Ft. Davis, Texas and Tommy Halcomb of Louisville, KY. His grandchildren, Codi Binegar, Nathaniel Halcomb and Makayla Halcomb and a great-grandson, Camden Binegar.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 o’clock in the Chapel of Henson & Rich Funeral Home with Rev. Sean Daniels, Rev. Steve Daniel and Rev. Doug Daniel. A gathering of family and friends will also be Sunday from 1 PM until the funeral hour.

Military Burial Honors will be performed by the Harlan County Honor Guard Monday, at 11AM at Resthaven Cemetery Chapel.
