Dale Martin Metcalfe went to be with the Lord early Monday morning, August 22, 2022, at his home. Though our hearts ache unbearably at our loss, we know without a doubt that he is safely home in the presence of his Lord and Savior, and we will see him again.
He was preceded in death by his parents Adrian Metcalfe and Myrtle Sergent Metcalfe, of Harlan, Kentucky.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Charity Lewis Metcalfe; his three children Rob Metcalfe, Sam Metcalfe (Teresa), and Joanna Metcalfe Herchenhahn; his seven grandchildren Kara Haddock (Will), Westley Metcalfe (Jules), Dylan Metcalfe, Cole Metcalfe (Jordynn), Kalli Herchenhahn, Kassi Herchenhahn, and Khloé Herchenhahn; his six great-grandchildren Aengus Haddock, Henry Haddock, Aiden Metcalfe, Titus Metcalfe, Jude Metcalfe, and Moses Metcalfe; and his sister Lisa Metcalfe Scott and son Michael Scott (Rachel and daughter Caroline).
Dale was born in Harlan, Kentucky on May 16, 1940. He grew up there and that is where he met the love of his life at a young age. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University and then married his childhood sweetheart, Charity, and was a leader in the community… a teacher, a coach, a pastor, a mentor, and friend. He had many wonderful ministries and led several souls to Christ.
Dale was a faithful man of God, and devoted husband, brother, father, and grandfather. He loved his Lord and Savior more than anything, and he lived every single day to glorify God.
A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, August 25, 2022, beginning at 4:30PM at Putney Bible Church 6340 HWY 522 Putney, KY with funeral services following at 7PM with Rev. Britt Lawson officiating.
Burial services will be Friday at 11AM at Resthaven Cemetery Chapel with grandsons and nephews serving as pallbearers.
On behalf of the staff of the Henson & Rich Funeral Home we would like to offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family during their time of bereavement.
