Cody Scott Maggard

Cody Scott Maggard, 26 of Corbin, KY passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 due to injuries received in a Zinc mining accident located in Strawberry Plains, TN. Cody was raised in Harlan, KY and a 2013 graduate of Harlan County High School. He was an avid sports fan, who loved his Kentucky Wildcats and NASCAR.

He is preceded in death by his stepmother, Renea Butler, his pap, Scott Broughton, and his grandparents Ruby & John Saylor and his papaw, Harry V.  Moore.

Survivors include the love of his life Ashley Maggard of Corbin, KY. His parents, Roxie (Ray) Jackson of TN, and Jason Butler of Jefferson City, TN. His in-laws, Rhonda (Russell) Asher of Corbin, KY. His grandma, Carol Broughton of Speedwell, TN. His grandma, Joyce Moore. His brothers & sisters, Tyler (Ashley) Maggard of Hazard, KY, Rhianna & Madison Jackson of Speedwell, TN, Haydon Butler of Jefferson City, TN, Scotty Williams, and Zachary Jackson of Harlan, KY. His special brother-in-law, Josh (Breanna) Asher. His nieces and nephews, Cody Maggard, Paisley Maggard, and Navarah Wilkins all of Hazard, KY. His aunts, Katina (Ralph) Yount of Cawood, KY, Kimberlee Broughton of Tazwell, TN, Frances Maggard and Danyale Saylor both of Harlan, Kim (Robert) Hensley, Melissa Saylor, Terry Cornett, and Nikki (Paul) Ferrara. His uncles, Brian (Sharon) Johnson, Johnny (Sarah) Saylor, Willie (April) Saylor, and Joe (Ming) Saylor. Cousins, Adam Johnson, Jonathan Helton, Anna Hensley, Kimberly Saylor, and Mason Saylor. Special cousins Alex (Derrick) Hoskins of Harlan, KY.  A host of other friends and relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 7PM in the Chapel of the Henson and Rich Funeral Home with Joe Spurlock officiating. Cremation will follow per Cody’s wishes. Visitation will also be Friday from 6-7PM in the Chapel of the Henson and Rich Funeral Home.

EFFECTIVE December 14, 2020 by the Governor’s mandate, visitation and funerals are limited to 50% of our facility occupancy compacity. Face coverings are required. Please use social distancing guidelines.
