Bill Lewis Obituary

William Dixon Lewis, 73 of Putney, passed away on December 31, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a member of Putney Bible Church, attended Loyall High School and graduated Cumberland High School. He was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the United States Navy.

Bill was employed by McComb Supply Company for 25 years, then retired from the Kentucky State Police after many years of service as a dispatcher in communications. He was an avid outdoorsman, bee keeeper, and enjoyed fishing with his friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Minnie Lewis; a sister, Jane Cawood and a brother-in-law, Victor Morris.

Bill is survived by his wife, of 52 years, Connie. His three sons, Otis (Malissa) Lewis, John (Lisa) Lewis and Damon (Heather) Lewis. Nine grandchildren, Tucker, Hunter, Eli, Jared, Benjamin, Jacey,  Drew, Rydge, and Lauren. Three sisters, Nancy (Paul) Proffitt, Charity (Dale) Metcalf and Lunelle Morris.  A brother-in-law, Tom Cawood, special brother in law and sister in laws. Also, a host of nieces, nephews family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5PM – 7PM at Henson & Rich Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 7PM with John Luttrell and Britt Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at 11AM on Thursday at Putney Cemetery with grandsons, nephews and family serving as pallbearers. Military burial honors will be by Harlan County Honor Guard.
