Jimmy Lawson Obituary

Jimmy Dean Lawson, 86, of Bledsoe, KY departed this life on Wednesday, March 13, 2023. He was born August 29, 1937, in Pineville, KY. Jimmy was a retired Lumber Inspector for Georgia Pacific for several years. Jimmy was a veteran of the US Navy which he was very proud of and believed in the Primitive Baptist faith. After his retirement Jimmy enjoyed gardening, canning, and playing horseshoes. One of his most favorite past times was watching his beloved Kentucky Wildcats and writing poetry.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lillie Lawson; his wife of 40 years, Roberta Coldiron Lawson; and his son, Trenton Burkhart.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Lawson Madden; his grandchildren, Brandy Pitre, Angela Burkhart, Cameron Caldwell, Haley Jenei and husband Caleb, Christian Burkhart and Brandon Pierson. A daughter of his heart, Michelle Wilson; Tommy Collins whom he considered as a son, Christine Caldwell whom he considered as a special friend and two sisters, Vivian Lawson Saylor and Phyllis Lawson Atkinson and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

A celebration of life and funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 1PM in the chapel of the Henson & Rich Funeral Home with Caleb Jenei officiating. Burial will follow in the Coldiron Cemetery of Blesoe with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military rites will be observed by the Harlan County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends also on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 11-AM to 1-PM in the chapel of the Henson & Rich Funeral Home.
