Minerva Hensley, 78 of Browning Acres formerly of Bobs Creek, entered her Heavenly home on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Minerva was born to Jim and Maggie Surgener on September 22, 1939 in Harlan, Kentucky. She was a homemaker and believed in the Church of God Faith.

She is survived by the love of her life, George Earl Hensley, whom she adored. George and Minerva had four children, Phyllis Rhymer and husband, Gary of Cranks, Harvey Hensley of Browning Acres, Kim Howard and husband, Bryan of Teetersville, and Raymond Earl Hensley, who precedes her in death. Brothers, Theodore Surgener and Denver Surgener, also precede her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren, Derek Middleton, Shannon Elliot, Heather Geiger, James Kelly Hensley, Taylor Hensley Joseph Hensley, Bryan Howard, Brayden Howard, Brianna Howard, and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Manzoe, Ernest Lee, Jimmy, Finley, and wife, Dolly Surgener of Ohio, Joe Surgener of Florida, Lynn and wife, Janie and Robert and wife, Patty Surgener of Michigan and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are caregivers Billie Brock, Jessie Gibson, Joy Nolan, June Clem, Charlene Bundy, and special friend and caregiver, Willa Burnett.

Minerva was a wonderful example of a Christian wife and mother, devoting her life to her husband and children. She served her Savior faithfully and was a light to her family and friends. Minerva actively lived her faith and received great joy from attending church and singing gospel music. In later years, while unable to attend church, she continued to watch services on television daily and enjoyed a vital prayer life.

Visitation will be held at Harvest Worship Center on Friday, June 1, 2018 from noon until the funeral hour of 2 PM with Reverend Doug Daniel and Pastor Roland Bo Lee officiating.  Graveside services will follow at Surgener-Hensley Cemetery at Cawood with Bryan Howard, Bryan Connor Howard, Brayden Howard, Mike Kelly, Steve Daniel,Trent Blevins, Steve Elliott, Jeff Ramsey, Matt Roddy and Stephen Allen Daniel serving as pallbearers.
