A celebration of life for Pamela Fay Holcomb will be held Friday, November 4, 2016, at James A. Cawood Elementary School's Little Theatre.   Pam was born September 22, 1956, daughter to Astor E. Holcomb and Helen Johnson Holcomb.  She devoted her life to teaching school.  Pam genuinely loved her students.  Her pride was the Marcee' Players and the wonderful plays they produced.  After retirement, Pam continued to use her love of reaching out to others through storytelling.  She told stories worldwide and was considered a renown Appalachian Storyteller.  Pam had many friends that loved her and she loved them as well.  She continued her love for teaching by presenting God's Word to the ladies Sunday School Class at Putney Bible Church where Pam was a member. She devoted her life to Christ at a young age and loved to tell others about her Savior. She also told Bible Stories to the whole church, such as Mary Magdalene at Easter and Mary, the mother of Jesus at Christmas.  Her talents were many and her associations depicted  this fact.   She was a member of Kentucky Storytelling Association and The Kentucky Arts Council. She also enjoyed quilting with a group of friends at the Extension Office, and enjoyed making and teaching basket making classes in various locations.

Pam was strongly devoted to her family.  She had strong family ties with her sister, Nancy Holcomb Lawson and her brother-in-law, Britt Lawson, Jr. and her niece and nephews:, Britt Lawson, III, (Shannon), Mark Lawson,( April ),  Bethany Lawson Johnson, (Matthew ),  Michael Lawson, (Christen).  She delighted her time with her great nieces and nephews:  Britt Lawson, IV, Jeremiah Mills, Isaiah Johnson, Anna Lawson, Hunter Lawson, Ryleigh Lawson, Zoe Lawson, Meredith Lawson, Macie Lawson, Micah Lawson, and Kaylyn Lawson.  She had a special friend, Emily Bailey, who was as close as a sister to her.  She remained lovingly beside her during her illness.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 4, 2016, at JACES' Little Theatre from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  Tim Lowry, former student and nationally known storyteller will share memories and stories of Pam.  Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 PM with Pastors Clay Groves, Matthew Johnson, and Don Lowry.  Gravesides services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at Resthaven Cemetery Chapel, Keith, KY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:  Harlan County Christian School, 6340 HWY 522, Totz, KY  40870.

I knew Pam Holcomb for more than 40 years. I don't think she ever met a stranger and could talk to anyone. We spent many happy times together when she visited New York City, often with a bus load of students and chaperones. We laughed a lot of the time. I always thought of her smiling. Rest In Peace dear friend. Randy Turner, New York, NY.🎭
